Devils Dyke

Kris Dutson

Devils Dyke on a cold showery March day – this is the famous steep sided valley just North of Brighton.

Devils Dyke is a popular venue for outdoor sports. Fantastic views greet the traveller who make their way up the road to the Iron Age promontory fort, which consists of a single rampart with an external ditch. In Victorian times, there was a cable car across the valley, which legend says was dug by the devil in an attempt to allow the sea to engulf the many churches that exist in the area.
