Burton and Chingford Ponds Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is a complex of woodlands, heathland and parkland set around two large lakes. The two lakes were built in the 16th century to power the local iron industry. Waterfowl can be seen all year round and there is a rich variety of summer dragonflies such as the scarce chaser and emperor species. Plant life includes the pond edge and boggy plants such as tussock sedge and southern marsh orchid.
There are trails here suitable for people with impaired mobility, wheelchairs, mobility scooters and push chairs.
