Herstmonceux Castle

The Castle was built of brick during the 15th century by Sir Roger Fiennes. It was abandoned during the 18th century and fell into ruin before being restored to its former glory by Claude Lowther in the early 20th century.

After World War II it was home to the Royal Greenwich Observatory for over 40 years. It is now an International Study Centre for Queens University, Canada.
