Herstmonceux Church

Andrew Whitnall

The Church was mainly built between the 12th and 14th centuries. Like the nearby castle, the church stands some two miles south of the modern village of Herstmonceux which, with increasing communications during the 19th and 20th centuries, gradually relocated to the main Lewes to Battle Road. The Church stands on high ground at the very end of a dead-end lane overlooking the Pevensey Levels.
