The summer of 2002 saw self-sown poppies spring up all over Sussex. This spectacular display was on the road from East Lavant to Goodwood. Apparently this phenomenon only occurs in years when the climate and conditions are just right but is on the increase due to organic farming methods. They do no harm to the crop (in this case wheat) which was harvested in the usual way. |
