Knepp Castle

The ruins are a small section of what was once the keep. The original castle was completed during the 12th Century, and used as a family home and local stronghold. Popular as a hunting lodge, it was visited on a number of occasions by Kings before falling into disrepair during the 14th Century.

Another Knepp Castle was built in the same grounds many years later, but is not clearly visible from the roadway. This is still in use.
